This weekend Olivia began to notice when she has to go potty or more likely when she has just gone. It is kind of ironic after I had a conversation about just this thing with my friend Heather. Her daughter Annika is doing the same thing.
She grabs at her diaper and wants to sit on the toilet on a little insert. I did have Steve bring down our small potty from the attic and she sat on that this morning for a while with her diaper off. She had been pulling on her diaper so I put her on. She sat for a while - doing nothing, then walked into the porch and pooped all over my floor. Looking on the bright side, she knew she had to go but just didn't get the timing right!!
I am the last person anyone should ask for advice on potty training, we had NO idea what we were doing with Braden and tried too early which set us back bit. That makes me hesitant to push things but I also know that there is a window around 18 months (she's almost 17 months) that many kids can be potty trained.
Any advice??????

So I have heard that they can be trained that early. Potter's girls actually were potty trained by at least 18 mos. And of course you read about it all the time. I however did not have that experience at all. In fact I couldn't even imagine at that age how that would be possible. I know that girls are different and often earlier than boys, but I guess when you are ready you are ready. However, I know that with our kids (so far) it was much more than the interest and recognition of going potty, it was really their physiological development, again which is later in boys. This probably does not help one bit!
I'd say go for it. It's worth a try. My nanny's daughter just turned two in August and she is potty trained. I think girls are so different. Hopefully some mom's of girls who are potty trained will leave you some advice...
