We also enjoyed going through the Country Spring Christmas lights last night and then tonight Braden and Olivia were able to attend Steve's Family Holiday party where they made ornaments, ate yummy treats and visited with Santa. It's such a fun time of year and we are so thankful that Norah is now apart of it all.

Norah's First Week
Well we're home and Norah is officially 10 days old! She is already growing way too fast. Braden and Olivia continue to be very gentle and sweet with her which warms our hearts. We've been busy as usual. Here are a few updates...
Our coming home photo in front of the now famous bench!!

Daddy and his new toy!
Norah's first Doctor visit happened at our house and we combined it with Braden's 5 year checkup! Her second check-up happened on Tuesday when we went in to have her frenulum clipped. She was slightly tongue-tied. It was really hard on both mama and Norah.

Pictures of Norah
Well - Norah is onto her second name so far! My dad came to see us and informed us that my grandma hated her middle name Viola. He thought that she'd much prefer we pick something else. Oops... so we renamed her Norah Grace Dupee. Grace is Steve's great grandma's name - and was our original plan before my grandma passed away. :)
Here are a few pictures and now it's time for me to get some sleep!!!
Welcome to the WORLD Norah!
We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl this morning! We have named her Norah Viola Dupee. Viola is the middle name of my grandma who just passed away. She was 8 lbs 14 oz!!!!! and 20 1/2 inches long. A big girl. :)
Here is the labor story so please feel free to skip ahead or stop reading!! I used the breast pump last night to help things move along since I was a few days overdue. It did start mild contractions but I fell asleep and they went away. I woke around 10:30 and used the pump again which started contractions at about 11:00. They progressed pretty quickly and became intense right away. They were fairly short(35-40 sec) and random (1-2 minutes apart) so I wasn't sure where I was in the process.
I called Wendy (our doula) and she suggested I take a bath to help regulate things at about 12:30. As soon as I got into the bathtub the intensity changed. I was having a really hard time with the pain and finding a way to breathe through them. They were fast and furious!! :)
We called Kristin because my parents were still 45 min away. Bless her heart she came and stayed with the kids while we got into the car. On the way to the hospital (we arrived at about 1:30 or 1:40) I felt like i had to push. We got into the entryway and I could feel the baby coming. So - needless to say - Norah was born at 1:55 in the entry way to the hospital with me on my knees holding on to a bench. It was also fast and furious - all a little overwhelming.
Everyone was great help. The best part is that Norah is a healthy little girl with a whole life ahead of her. I can't wait for Braden and Olivia to meet her. :) I'll post pictures later today. Steve and I think she looks more like Olivia than Braden but has a little look of her own as well.
Happy Birthday Norah!!

I think Baby is on it's way!!!!
So I've been having contractions and they are pretty intense. They happened a little bit earlier tonight and went away so I'm not sure if these are here to stay or will diminish as well... EEEEEEE!

Weekend Update
Well - no baby yet. :( We're waiting anxiously for labor to start ... believe it or not I can't wait until I feel that first contraction. I've wondered on a few nights if things were going to progress as I had cramping but as you can see... once I went to bed everything settled down. I also thought my water may have broken earlier this week but I'm pretty sure it's nothing. I'm trying very hard to be patient. Think baby thoughts for us please!!!!!! If nothing has happened before I have an appointment Monday at 4:15.
Braden and Steve are currently bowling with their Y-Tribe! It's Braden's first attempt at bowling and I can't wait to hear how it went. I should have sent the camera along but that would require me to take it out of my hospital bag and I forget that it's up there.
Olivia is sitting in front of me practicing cutting white paper with her scissors making, "snow-flakes," and singing "Jingle Bells."
One of the other things going on in our lives is that my Aunt Pam is very ill. This is the daughter of my grandma who just passed away and the sister of my dad. She went into the hospital less than a day before my grandma. She has been sick for quite some time with different ailments but this time it seems to be a toxic combination. They know she has a horrible case of pneumonia as well as Influenza and may have H1N1. They also think that she may have cancer but can't check for it while she is in the condition that she is in. Apparently she has ARDS - Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome now. She is not getting enough oxygen and her lungs are starting to harden. I don't quite understand it all.
I can't stop thinking about my cousin Michelle who was the one to find my Grandma in her apartment and then to have this happen to her mom. Her entire life is being turned upside down - I can't imagine how her heart feels and how she is coping. It's too much for one person to have to deal with.
The picture above is of my aunt Pam and I at my cousin Michelle's wedding which was mid-September. I am so thankful that she has Tom in her life and that both my grandma and Pam were able to see her beautiful day.
I will keep you all updated but please keep both Pam and Michelle in your thoughts. Life certainly is cyclical isn't it. I anxiously wait here to have a baby and also to hear if my aunt is going to live. WOW - it's too much to think about.

Decorating for Christmas
Due to the fact that we're having a baby and now with things in regards to my grandma, we decided to minimize the Christmas decorations this year. Last year I had Christmas in every nook and cranny so it was hard to take out only a few things but I know later I'll be happy we did.
We bought our tree today and had a decorating party in our PJ's tonight. We decorated our big family tree and then let the kids each decorate a small tree for their bedrooms. They had a really good time. Olivia put all the ornaments on 2-3 branches. I of course had to move them around to space them evenly (my anal needs!), and Braden has a set of R2D2 lights on his tree so it's perfect. I remember having a small tree for my bedroom when I was young and I LOVED getting it all set up each year. The glow of Christmas lights in my room as I was falling asleep was so cozy. Now it's their turn and I love sharing those traditions with them.
My Grandma
Thanksgiving - although a day for remembering all that you've been thankful for in life - was something a little different this year for my family.
As we were rounding the table and finishing with our usual, "What you're most thankful for," speeches my parents phone rang. It was my cousin Michelle with horrible news about my Grandma Snyder. She was in the hospital and was unresponsive. This came as a total and complete shock. She had talked with my mom earlier in the day and everything seemed fine and left the sweetest voice message on my cel earlier in the week.
The next 6 hours were a whirlwind. It turns out she had an aneurysm burst in her brain. We knew it was there and had been for quite some time but hadn't caused her any troubles. When the doctors did a cat-scan she had no brain activity at all. Her heart was working fine on it's own but she was on a respirator to breathe. My mom and dad left immediately and after talking with the doctors at the hospital they decided to unhook the respirator. My grandma died last night at 10:30pm.
I haven't lost very many people in my life which is fortunate but the people that I have lost I have had a chance to say goodbye to. This is the first sudden death that I've been confronted with and it brings with it a lot of different emotions. I feel guilty that I didn't call her back this week, that I didn't tell her I loved her more, that I didn't visit as often as I'm sure she would have liked. I haven't sent pictures of the kids as often as I used to or cards just to say hello. When I think about all that I could have done differently I am struck with a heart that hurts.
I know that my Grandma would tell me not to feel guilty about any of those things. She was ready to go - she has mentioned that many times to my mom - and she missed my grandpa dearly. She wanted to go fast and that she did. I know with time the guilt will fade away and I'll simply remember all of the wonderful things about her.
Things I'm remembering right now about my Grandma...
-She made the best pink Jello (strawberry jello with vanilla ice cream)
-She always had Dannon yogurt and Kraft cheese squares when we'd visit.
-I loved visiting their house and playing in the extra room with the doll house and card sorter.
-She had a drawer (first drawer on the left when you entered the kitchen) that she kept cinnamon hard candy and caramels.
-She bought us Easter outfits each year.
-Her house was always clean and had a certain scent to it that I can smell right now.
-She hid Christmas presents in the basement.
-She made the yummiest desert bars that had chocolate on top.
-She loved Mickey Mouse and Santa.
-She was very proud of her Danish heritage and loved to talk about it if you asked her questions.
-She doted on my Grandpa like you wouldn't believe.
-She married my Grandpa after not knowing him for very long... it's a fun story. :)
-She loved my dad - he could do no wrong and whenever she talked about him she beamed.
-She picked up my Grandpa from the train everyday after work.
-She couldn't get enough of Braden and Olivia. Her phone call to me on Tuesday was to tell me she was going to save Braden's birthday Thank you forever because it was the first thing he had signed for her.
-She sent them packages that smelled like smoke(hehe) about once a month - they had stickers, snacks and other goodies in them.
-She had danish candles and bubble lights on her Christmas tree every year.
-She had more ornaments on her tree than anyone outside of a department store.
-She worked for Marshall Fields for many years.
-She always looked put together and wore a lot of cardigans. Her best color was pink.
-She loved talking about my Grandpa after he passed away.
-She loved sharing stories with me about her pregnancies and raising children.
-She was always moving - never sitting down long enough to do anything but read or watch the Cubs.
-She kept up on politics and sports :)
-Even in her retirement home she made sure she had pots and planters on her patio.
I could go on but need to be done for now. I miss her terribly and wish more than anything I could just hug her and tell her I love her one more time. I know that my dad must feel the same way and I hurt for him.
She was a wonderful woman who always had the best of intentions. She wasn't a perfect person - none of us are - but she was an absolutely perfect Grandma.
I love you Grandma. I hope you are with Grandpa, that you are happy, content, and that you know how much you are loved.

Emily and Olivia
Olivia LOVES being girly. She loves her jewlery, purses, make-up, and anything else that has to do with girls. Don't get me wrong - she can hang with the boys and hold her own very well but given the choice, she'd like to have lip gloss on and her toe nails painted.
When Emily arrived on Saturday Olivia was in her glory. Emily had on boots so Olivia quickly showed up with her boots on. You'll notice in the picture that they are purple and black snow boots but boots none the less. It was absolutely adorable.
They were buddies the whole night. Olivia is so lucky she has her Aunties (Emily, and Chris) and her cousins (Nikki and Jill) to help her be girly - she loves every minute with them all.
Party Number 2!
After naps on Saturday, we had a family party for Braden. His Nana, Papa, Grandma, Bapa, Uncle Marc, Uncle Sam and Auntie Em all came to help celebrate.
We had Pesto Pasta, a dinner requested by Braden, followed by cake, ice cream and of course presents. We are so thankful that everyone made the time to come and visit. We love you all.
Celebration number 3 will come this Thursday on his actual birthday - wow, what a lucky boy!!

The Dinosaur Party
Braden had his first "kid only" party this year. I was in my element planning fun games and activities and I believe it was a success. Braden had a great time and felt really special which was the goal!
Evan, Andrew, Isaac, Daniel, and Patrick arrived at all about the same time and we began by decorating goodie bags in the dining room. We had dinosaurs all around. They drew on their bags and put on dino stickers. I was excited with how cute they turned out. When they were starting to finish we put on tattoos from Ice Age 3 (Dawn of the Dinosaurs). This was quite exciting!
Our first game was pin the horn on the triceratops. I had been planning on making the game but changed my mind at the last minute when I found one online for $5. Well worth the money - it was cute!! When they were finished they got to take a set of "grow dinos" and put it into their goodie bag.
Next we came into the living room and they tossed rings onto plastic dinosaurs. They did a pretty good job and they each got to choose a dino to add to their bag when they were finished.
The last game we played was heading into the backyard for a dinosaur egg hunt. It was beautiful so we were able to be outside - otherwise the plan was to hunt in the basement. They searched all over the yard for dinosaur eggs (easter eggs in the shape of dinosaur heads which were filled with treats) and again added them to their bags as they were found. Each boy found seven eggs. They were super excited about their discoveries.
Since it was so nice out Steve got out our bouncy house and the boys (and Olivia) played while we made pizza. We had a pizza lunch followed by cake and ice cream. I was impressed by how much they ate - good growing boys!!
After eating we went to the living room and played spin the bottle to figure out whose present to open. He got very fun gifts and beautiful drawings and cards!!
After opening presents the boys played with their dinosaurs outside in the bouncy house for the last 15 minutes before heading home.
It was a perfect way to celebrate Braden turning 5. It's fun to watch he and his buddies interact and I'm so glad that he had a good time.

In Love
Last week Braden and I went to his school for a keepsake plate night. He was able to color on a piece of paper which will be transfered to a plate. I remember doing it when I was little so it was fun to watch him fill the space with all sorts of monsters. I can't wait to see his face when we get it back.
While we were there he saw a few friends. He was very excited to run into people he knew and instantly wanted to play with everyone. Towards the end his friend Emily came in. He was instantly smitten and wanted to go and sit by her. She and her family were already seated in another spot so we just said hello and I told Braden we could go see Emily when we were finished.
When he told me he was done, he said, "Mama, I love Emily." I confirmed that Emily was indeed a very nice girl and we walked over to where they were sitting. He decided he wanted to sit next to her and add some more to his picture and after a bit I heard them giggling so I bent down to see what they were talking about. Emily said, "I keep telling Braden he shouldn't be in love with me but he keeps saying we should get married." I don't even remember what I said but I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that they were both silly.
We left soon after and Braden told me a few times on the way to the car that he was in love with Emily and wanted that he and Emily were going to have kids. He asked me if he could marry her and I explained that we couldn't get married until we were big but if he still wanted to marry Emily when he was big than yes, he could marry Emily.
So... the crushes have started I guess. :) I am just hoping that Braden is not the little boy chasing all the girls to kiss them on the playground!

Packer Game
Steve and I drove to Appleton yesterday and dropped off the kids (and Magnus) at my parents before heading up to Lambeau. We joined one of his good friends in the Vikings Suite for the game. Before the game he gave us some field passes so we were able to walk around on the sidelines while the teams warmed up. It was really cool to be so close to the action and see how LARGE some of the players really are!
Despite the game outcome it was a really fun time. It was nice to spend an afternoon with Steve and fun to be there watching the action live. Thanks honey! I'm glad we decided to go. :)
Trick or Treat
Like last year, Darrell and Judy came down for the weekend. We had Braden's last soccer game on Saturday morning and then spent the afternoon running errands, catching up on a few other projects around the house and getting geared up for Halloween.
This year Braden was Darth Vader and Olivia was Princess Ariel. We had a great time despite the cold and the kids came home with lots of candy that I am trying to avoid today. :)
It was a really fun day/evening. Thanks Darrell and Judy!!
Cleaning and Organizing
Steve took the day off on Friday and we deep cleaned the entire house. I am sure it is not what he had envisioned when he originally decided to take the day but I appreciate his help more than anything. It meant more to me than a fancy dinner, a massage or a gift... My mind is so much more at ease since it's done and the house looks great! We even reorganized the living room to open it up and fit in another chair. As you can see Braden and Olivia had fun helping!!

Saturday Morning
Last Saturday we spent much of the morning before Braden's soccer game lounging around the house. It was a special treat to have all four of us home for some weekend quiet time - no rushing, feeling stressed, or even a to do list generated(at least not yet!).
I found Braden curled up on the chair playing with magnetic pattern blocks (the teacher in me was beaming!!) and Olivia at his feet just waiting for her turn.
What cuties. ;)

What have we been up to?
Getting ready for baby - putting together a new swing, pack and play, etc. as well as washing clothes, burp clothes and anything else that seems gender neutral.
Decorating for Halloween with the kiddos.
Christmas Shopping - I am just about finished. Now it's time to start wrapping!!
Cleaning and organizing the garage - why? I don't know it just felt like it needed to be done. :)
Trading in our Camry for a "MOM" van, which I secretly love due to the ease and space it provides.
Getting new carpet and building a shelf in the porch~ We're getting ready to spend a lot of time out there this winter!
These were a few of the highlights from the last couple of weeks. Without pictures... I volunteered in Braden's classroom which was a blast. I loved every minute of it and hope to do more as the year goes.
We started Olivia's physical therapy which I have been TERRIBLE about following through with. Today was the first day I actually did some of the exercises with her.
My OB appointments have been going well. Baby is head down and all is as it should be.
I remember a calm that came upon me at the end of my pregnancy with Olivia and I am just waiting for that to arrive. :) I feel like I am constantly frantic about something right now. I think some might say I am TOTALLY and COMPLETELY nesting - Steve might call it anal and annoying but it's all in the eyes of the beholder right?? :)
I have been terrible about being in touch with friends and family as I am dead tired by the time dinner time roles around and then it's kids bed time and school work or other items on the to do list and down for the night. So thank you for the continued voicemails, notes and emails. I love you all.

What a night!
Tonight was quite a night at our house!
When I picked up Braden from Kristin's house today after school he was absolutely beaming! She had helped him learn to ride a bike without training wheels. We tried earlier this summer but he just wasn't ready so today was the day! He rode up and down the driveway numerous times and couldn't wait to surprise daddy when he got home. Steve, Olivia and Braden spent about 30 minutes outside before dinner practicing in the ally. He was turning circles and was even able to get himself started - what a guy! Great job buddy.
I remember my dad teaching me to ride in our front yard. I think I was a bit older than Braden for some reason, maybe I am wrong but I remember him running behind me and letting go. I actually think my mom was on the phone with Nancy and Harry at the time. It's funny how you remember some things so vividly.
Olivia couldn't let Braden have all the lime light so she decided she would go potty on the big girl potty!!! Last week out of the blue she took her diaper off and went potty in her little potty in her room. We were so excited. Tonight she told me she wanted to go potty, climbed onto the big potty and sure enough - she went! What a big girl. :) Maybe we'll be in cute princess panties before too long and I'll only have one child in diapers when baby is born - what a dream.

Doctor Updates
A few doctor updates...
Olivia's eye appointment Saturday went great. No inflammation at this point due to the JRA. They did find that she is pretty far-sighted (a surprise find) but not in need of glasses at this point. We follow up now every 6 months.
I had my long glucose screening yesterday and all four blood draws came up well below where I would have to be in order to be considered gestational diabetic so that's all good! :) Other than that baby is good - moving a lot more forcefully and pretty low but heartbeat continues to be strong. :)
We took Olivia this morning to her appointments at Children's and here's the latest...
Her swelling is down but it does appear that one leg is longer than the other due to the JRA. The hope is that after the steroid shot today (she was such a trooper) and physical therapy which we start in 2 weeks, they will be able to tell whether or not she needs a lift in her shoe. My understanding is that would be temporary but we'll see. We'll follow-up in 4-5 weeks.
So all in all - life is busy, busy, busy but we feel grateful for all of the news that we've gotten and even more grateful that we have good insurance!!!!!

Annual Dupee Family Brewer Game
This year we decided to bring back the annual Dupee Family Brewer Game. We took the last two years off due to the arrival of Olivia and other things last summer. It was so nice to see everyone again. People started arriving around 1:15 and we caravanned to tailgate at 3:00. The weather was beautiful - a perfect day to be outside with family.
Braden doesn't have many chances to interact with all of his second cousins on Steve's side of the family and he doesn't have any immediate cousins that are close to his age (we think of Nikki, Steve and Jill as more of aunts and uncles). He had a BLAST! It was great to see him playing and them embracing him and teaching him how to play football, baggo and other fun games.
Olivia and I left after the tailgate as I had the stomach flu last week and needed to come home for some TLC but Steve and Braden, along with the rest of the gang, had a great time. The roof was open the whole game, Braden got to eat his heart out with ballpark fare and the best part was that the Brewers won!
The next day Judy joined us on a trip to the Elegant Farmer. It seemed to be the perfect day to go - warm sunshine, crisp wind and a Packer game that afternoon. Does anything else say fall better in the Midwest?? We ate a yummy lunch then walked into the orchard and picked apples! Even Judy stretched up to grab what she could! :) After we went into the store and bought a few more things.
Apple picking is one of my favorite things to do. It reminds me of when I was little! My parents would drive our VW Bus into the Orchard and we climbed on top to get the apples at the top of the tree. I remember filling huge baskets with apples and then making homemade apple sauce with my mom. I hope Braden and Olivia grow to love it as much as me! Braden's favorite at this point is climbing the trees and Olivia liked sampling the different types.
We had an awesome weekend!!! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family. :)
