Last weekend we drove down to Chicago after Braden was finished attending a friend's birthday party. The whole trip was just perfect. The drive down went smooth. Norah slept the entire way while Braden and Olivia watched The Little Mermaid. It actually gave Steve and I a chance to visit which rarely happens on car rides.
Once there we relaxed for a short bit and then headed to Lincoln Park Zoo. We were only there for a little while before it closed but it was great to walk around outside, breathe in the fresh air and spend time with family. My parents made the trip as well so it ended up being all 9 of us.
Back at Sam and Em's we ate delicious pizza and then celebrated their birthdays with cupcakes and presents. Returning to the car with only a quick stop at Starbucks had us home by 10pm.
Sam and Em are moving to the Twin Cities this summer. I am now realizing how much I am going to miss having them close. We weren't able to see them as often as we both would have liked but it was just nice knowing they were there. I feel so lucky to have Sam for a brother. He is one of the most amazing men I know and I really appreciate his perspective on things, his honesty and his giant heart. I'm sure we'll still make trips to see each other - although less frequent - so Sam and I will have to be better about staying in touch over the phone and email.
Thanks everyone for a wonderful visit - short and sweet - but appreciated none the less. :)

It is so nice having family close by. Take it from one who doesn't :( The Twin Cities is only a 5.5 hour car ride and in the summer is totally doable! It's so lovely there in the summer, too. Did you know I lived there for a while? Long time ago...
I have a friend that lives in Stillwater in a great area so email me if I can give you any info for Sam.
