Meal Co-op

We are nearing our year anniversary for starting up Meal Co-op. I can't tell you how thankful I am that this has become a part of our lives. If we ever move I'm not sure who I'll miss more - my friends - or my meals. :) Just kidding. :) In some ways it seems that we just started and in other ways I feel like we've been doing this for years.

I love meal co-op for the four meals I have ready each week of course but it's much more than that for me. I love the camaraderie between the women, the common purpose we have, the exposure to different foods for my family that I might not choose, the excuse to make the time to really plan and cook meals and most importantly I love how we kind of take care of each other. It feels good to make meals for other people... to help busy moms take care of their families. I feel like I am contributing on a weekly basis; taking away some of their stress and giving them more time to enjoy each other.

I thought I'd give you an idea of the next four weeks of meal rotations! Here is what our families will be eating:

Week of 7/19: Beef Stroganoff, Summer Corn Chowder and Salad, Jamaican Jerk Turkey Burgers with Tropical Fruit Salad, Bow Ties with Sugar Snap Peas and Goat Cheese plus a side salad

Week of 7/26: Pad Thai, Tex-Mex Fajitas, Brats and a side, Rhubarb Glazed Pork Roast with Rice

Week of 8/2: Chicken Fajita Salad, Tortellini Picnic Salad, Marinated Orange Flank Steak, Tasty Onion Chicken Bake with Rice

Week of 8/16: Pita with Falafel, Tomatoes, Tahini and Lemon, Joellen's Chicken Enchilada Ring, Mexican Manicotti

If you're not sold already - you should be!! I'd highly, highly, highly recommend this and am more than willing to share the logistics if anyone is interested!!

Thanks Ladies for an awesome year of putting dinner onto my kitchen table with ease. :)

I have so been wanting to do this! I even got Allison and Stacy to agree to do it too. But I just haven't been able to get it off the ground. Any tips? Does Sarah W. do it monthly? Maybe that would better to try that first. I am SO jealous of all your yummy meals!!

As a beneficiary of the Meal Co-Op program, I must agree that it is truly the greatest thing since sliced bread! I love that we have home cooked, delicious meals to try every week, and that it free's up time for us each week night. Thank you ladies for all of the wonderful meals you've made this past year. I truly can't believe that I'm still only 205 pounds. Long live the Meal Co-Op!!!

You inspired me to start a Meal Co-op and I agree! Life changing! Thank you Sarah for sharing your ideas. I hope someone else gives it a try because it really is the best thing. And my meal group only switches once a month and I still see an impact! So friends, you can start small.
